Comparing to real ones, where grass is not perfect, colour is not flat,
and often neither is the road

Adding road side detailing to enhance the overall effect, road signs, small ballast, thinned black for dirt, even real dirt,varnish for water,and even rough surface texture. often hiding joins with vehicles, and embedding buildings to avoid floaters.

Jaz- i was going to ask if the English roads were as rough as they appear on your layout?No two roads are the same on my layout

It has plenty of detailing, plus I added some
two grey for the metal
then a slick of ‘oil’
it started off as concrete but the original had gone shades of green I’ll look for the reference picture
