The plug in buildings is a nice concept, but as building sizes differ quite a bit from scale to scale I doubt it would be viable. Also Track widths would be different.

It was all done in photoshop, I first photographed the locos using just one light in front and low, then cutaway the area I didn't want, took the sunset photo and placed the locos in front.
