    Something New is Coming

Well, I was considering an initial run of 6 but it sounds like I'd sell out right away! (Not a bad problem to have.) I'm a little limited by the quantities of parts I can find locally and online. But no matter. I'll make as many as I have parts for and then see if I can get more. In any case...

Modeling Bar Mills "Jerry's Small Engine Repair"

Man, I feel bad for laughing. That does suck.

    Time Period Help Needed

Got any particular railroad in mind? Most railroads have historical societies around that can give you that kind of information. There are also lots of books out there.

    First diorama....Opinions wanted

It's personal preference, but I tend to weather the track, then ballast it and then put the rest of the scenery around it.

    First diorama....Opinions wanted

It looks pretty good, but if you are going for realistic then the track needs ballast.

Mail Call! Railway Post Office, commonly abbreviated as RPO has rolled in!

The RPO was very generous to me today. I got a box with a dozen Accurail freight cars in it! A mix of box cars and reefers. That should keep me busy during the cold winter months (as if I didn't have anything else to do!) Also arriving on track 9-3/4 was a new book! Because you can't have...

    Something New is Coming

I haven't finished figuring out what details and castings I want to include yet so I don't have a total cost at this point. It should be a competitive price though, not like the $150 FSM kits. :) There aren't that many pieces.

    Something New is Coming

Great! You'll like the second project I have in mind also. It's GN related but I'm going to keep it under my hat until I start it up. :)

    Considering Dismantling My Large Layout

While I'm sorry that no one else enjoys your layout I do have to say that slot car track looks amazing. :)

    Something New is Coming

Thanks for the kind words all. I think this will turn out pretty neat. Willie, I will put you on the top of the list (well, the only one on the list so far. :) ) It will be a little while yet, I need to finish up the parts, write some instructions and figure out what details I want to include...

    Something New is Coming

I finally decided to sit down and draw the building I've been wanting to make with my laser cutter. It's a cinder block building that is a feed dealer based off this MRR article. I really only need about 2" of it because it sits against the backdrop, but I decided to make the whole building and...

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

I decided to try glazing the windows with Kristal Kleer. It works well enough, but now I guess I don't need to worry too much about the interior. I'll probably still install a light inside just to have it shine through the windows. On the plus side I found the missing window frame on the...

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

I bought a Glowforge when they first came out. I don't use it nearly enough but I want to start making kits to sell I think.

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

I installed the windows and doors last night only to discover I'm missing a window! I don't know if it was originally missing from the kit, or if I managed to lose it on my workbench, but I can't find it. Oh well, it's a Grant Line so I just ordered some more. That's all I got done because I...

Mail Call! Railway Post Office, commonly abbreviated as RPO has rolled in!

The Railway Express truck (UPS) came yesterday and dropped off my Right on Track Models Boxwell Casket Company kit. Looks like a fun build.

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

A little more progress. Just whittling away at this kit. I glued the second wall on and then decided I needed a calendar on the wall. For fun I found a high-resolution copy of a 1958 Great Northern wall calendar. I know gas stations would probably have girly calendars, but I though it would be...

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

Making some slow progress. I spray painted the walls white inside and out and then put a wash on the outside to pop the seams. Starting to glue up the four walls. I also painted the windows, doors and the 1x6 trim strips black. The kit came with a bunch of cast metal parts so while the paint...

    An Old-School Craftsman Kit

Ha, that's funny. That's where I got my newer gas pumps to use. I'll have to look at the rest of their details.
