    Scratchbuild? Me?? Why Not???

Excuse me, but it you want realism there won't be a roll of TP...there will be a simulated Sears or Monkey Ward catalog for reading and wiping...<G>

    Tixeno Short Line

Spent the winter watching the rain and snow encourage native grasses to grow up and through my track...discovered how hard it is to take up well overgrown track. :) I haven't mentioned this before but I have a prosthetic leg which doesn't bend at all so it makes it difficult to work at...

    Battery Power?

It is probably too late for me to offer my two cents worth but... If you have just 75 feet ot track, instead of going for an expensive R/C system why not just purchase stainless steel track?..still have to run wires for the controls and features like crossing gates but that can be minimized.

If you look at the pic I posted, there is a temporary 1x4 wood "bridge" on the right hand side of the layout so that I can keep a fairly even grade across an existing low spot...the septic tank is on the left hand side in the foreground...so the bridge will be both functional and ornamental if...

Looks my previous post didn't make the transition. Good idea Willis, but I was explaning my planned for bridge to a neighbor and he reminded me that he had an arc welder and that we could build a really great bridge out of steel...I think he is thinking about something resembling the Golden...

First Snow on the new section

Dang, that looks cold! Looks like you need a snowplow and a salt spreader locomotive or just hope for a warm spell. Erick

The rods worked well and I discovered that it took very little digging to remove the TWO INCHES of cover over the tank...LOL I don't have a basement, just a crawlspace that has no entrances...one of those things on my to-do list. Anyway, now that that issue is resolved I can get on with...

    Tixeno Short Line

Good idea Willis. The ground is mostly rock and decomposed granite in a sort of clay-like consistency but it has gotten a lot easier to dig with our record setting rains of late. I just dug a short section of ditch to place a plastic pipe to carry off water from newly installed gutters and...

Thanks for the name suggestion NVTiny...not sure that is quite it but it may be. I checked with my neighbor and he doesn't think the tank is as deep as I thought he had told me previously so I guess I will have to probe around where it is supposed to be to see for sure.... a few more rains...

Which septic tank treatment are you using? I found one online that guarantees that the septic tank will never need pumping which I plan to start using...the house is new but we weren't around when it was built and no one seems to know who installed the septic system but the neighbors watched...

The bridge will be on the righthand side of the layout where I currently have a 1x4 board..it will have to be a lift out I also have two dogs plus two neighbor dogs who have already disrupted the track...gonna have to do something about that<G>. A snowplow may well come in handy if we ever...

I have built a starter layout using all of my available track to create a single line mainline. Next comes ballast to give it a more finished look and I need to construct an 8 foot long bridge which can be removed to get a tractor/backhoe in in case we need to pump the septic tank. I tried to...

    F&CGR Back on Track

What I've mostly been doing has been shopping....in Garden Railway magazine and on-line trying to find the best prices for G scale stuff. It would seem to me that working with a larger scale would mean that some things would be less expensive since it would appear easier to manufacture than...

    F&CGR Back on Track

According to the stats kept here I last visited in August 2003 except at that time there was no separate Model Railroad forum. No excuse for not visiting in a year, but I did move and the trackplan I posted on the railroad forum went by the boards. I'm pleased to see that Claudia is...
