Santa Fe Sunday

Here’s today’s Santa Fe from the O Scsle layout. The Caboose and the Insulated Boxcar are Vintage Atlas O. The Steel Reefer is a old All Nations kit I restored. The Hopper is a Weaver Models.

We called those early BNSF trains like that, skittle bowls. Kind of embarrassing actually.
When the railroad built along the lake, there are two spots where the track is on fill, about three miles long apiece. Hiway 97, a very busy road, parallels the tracks, which is owned by the UP.
Heading up the lake, stretched out across one of these fills is a 5 motor UP freight, all one color, flags flying.
Next train stretched out across the fill, a BNSF skittle bowl, nice! o_O

Here's a Santa Fe B39-8 I kitbashed a few years ago. It was one of three former GE demonstrators Santa Fe had on the roster:

And here's an Atlas B40-8 I did a little work on to be its companion on intermodal trains. I had just installed some fiber optic LED lights in the nose when I took this photo:

Apologies these aren't the best pictures, I wasn't there at a good time of day for photography regarding the sun. But here's ATSF 3759, a 4-8-4 "Heavy Northern" built by Baldwin in 1928. It pulled the last revenue steam run over Cajon Pass in 1955 before being donated to the city of Kingman, Arizona in 1957, where it resides today. Yes, this picture was taken in October.

Caboose 999520 also resides there.
