Well, That didn't work out right. I shot the dcc chip. Crossed a wire by accident. Chip is headed to Digitrax for replacement. Thank God they have a goof warranty. Should be here in a week. Still not sure on resister values. I have the resisters that were in one of my old engines. 220u, They seem to be a bit high. Thinking maybe i should drop to 200 or 180u for these leds. Any ideas folks? I am not the most smart guy with electronics. Anyway...next...

Smokey, your landscape work, water feature, and company town are looking exceptional! Thank you for posting it.

Dave
Thanks Dave, I have some of the work done. I worked on it more today. Some of it needs a bit of work yet. The river and the smaller creeks need a bit more work on them yet. Shrubs are needed yet along the river. I got a lot of work to do around the trestle on both sides of the river. I am done for today. Give my hands a break. Shots below

I started getting some of the trees that was on my old layout. They are mostly Woodlands Scenic trees the rest are Timberland and timberland was bought out by Woodland. I still have lots more trees to repair and place on the layout. I have several shots of the trees and a couple on the layout of the placement. I have made all the little 2 inch trees for now. Looking at taller ones to fit the scene. The town side and mountain is going to be small trees only. Nothing taller than 4 inches. Want to keep them shorter if i can. Make it look like they already took all the logging they could out of there. The main camp is where the tall trees will be placed. Shots below,

Your trees are looking great! On the previous post you mention that you were making those trees, what product are you using for the conifer foliage?

I agree that the tree height should not be too tall. I notice the trees look funny with the trains if they are scale 60 to 100' tall like a real one would be.

The Conifer foliage came from Timberline and is out of business but someone told me that woodlands scenic bought the comepany out so maybe you can get from them. I am using there grasses so far they work for me.

I am not sure how i did it but i messed up the small trestle My the sawmill. I ended up cutting it out and am building another one that will look even better. Shots below.

I think i need more trees...
My opinion, it is about perfect near the buildings, but a couple areas where the crowns are touching, like a dense forest, on the edge may look good.

That crescent wrench looks intimidating.

I think you are very artistic to come up with such interesting scenery on a N scale layout.

Dave

I have had folks say not enough and some say space more apart and others down the middle. Depends what forum i go to. I am adding more trees but am not going totally nuts with them. I have a few more shots from the other night. Bridge is drying right now and then i can finish it and stain it and install. Been moving right along with this. So far i am happy but others comments are very much appreciated. Shots below
