Almost 2:30pm and 52F and seems to be sunny (from my basement office looking out the window well). It was 28F when I got up at 6:30am.

The following picture shows our Christmas tree, which has been sitting in our green waste bin since January. The needles are stillsoft, there are hardly any needles spread around the bin. It is amazing. The lid of the bin is partially open so maybe some water has gathered in the bin providing the tree with some water but otherwise it has just been sitting there since January waiting for green bin pick up to resume (we missed the tree pickup after Christmas since we keep it up until Epiphany).

Good afternoon Shop Dwellers! It's 73*F and sunny with a 10mph SSW breeze in central MD - perfect for being outdoors.

Joe - Excellent photo of the PC S-2 and classic vehicles; the truck in the backgroud looks as if it's about to be scalped by the bridge! Also liked the earlier one of the unamed B&O passenger train in Cumberland. I have enough Walthers passenger cars to put together a pike-size train like that, but it would look out-of-place on my industrial switching layout.

Karl, if that statistic you mentioned on strokes is correct, I'm afraid I'm probably one of those 29%; I have high BP, a history of blood clots, and a hair-trigger temper when calling a customer service phone number and being put into an endless loop by a phone-bot!

Terry - sorry to hear about the recent turn of events...☹

I know it's been several days since the last time I posted. No mrr news to report though. My energy level has taken a nose dive, and my overall health might not be far behind. Have had this slight pain in the center of my chest, bottom of the rib cage, that sporadically fades in and out. Definitely not a heart attack but possibly an esophogeal ulcer brought on by reflux. Doesn't bother me much when my body is upright, but I can feel it when I'm lying down on my back. The earliest appt I could get for an endoscopy was 2 weeks from Friday, so I'll have to wait until then to find out what's actually going on; I'm just hoping it won't be the same condition that required Phil to have part of his foodpipe removed!

In the workplace: My employer's central IT Dept is planning to roll out a new version of the corporate database software [Oracle - Patrick probably recognizes the name!], and some of the applications I support - which have worked fine on earlier versions over the past 10 years - slow down to glacier speed when I test them on the new database. I've warned management about this, but all they keep saying is "We've put in a support ticket with the vendor." That was 3 weeks ago, and even the vendor hasn't figured it out yet. Meanwhile, central IT marches full speed ahead with their upgrade plans. I may find myself forced to retire two years earlier than planned, if the scenarioes I've warned them about come to pass...

Good Afternoon Everyone.....mostly sunny but on the cool side here in my part of Wisconsin.

Just came home from my first session with my Physical Trainer. No surprise after she says I need some work and have to get into shape. All this Covid trapping environment kept me inside and a total lack of exercise for months and legs muscles simply became progressively weaker and I first notice it after it was too late. I been here in this condition before after I had extended stays in ICU, so the physical routine isn't any thing new to me, except the price of $50/a week, per half hour session with my Trainer. She's good and really put me though the wringer this afternoon. I start with her in two weeks from tomorrow, but will go to the gym and work out on my own until then. I like the Nu-Step machines at the gym.

I also wonder if my having Lyme Disease two years ago had anything to do with my condition. I need to do some research on the topic.

Chet: That was some train wreck!!! Was any thing damaged?

TomO: Another nice photograph of your layout.

Still looking for a SOO Line, GP38-2 shell for a Proto 1000, any road number. Even a non-running basket case would work for me.

Chadbag:
That Christmas Tree being in the cool outside environment with some water helped to keep it green. It was also likely that the tree was to have been cut shortly before your purchased the tree, unlike here in Wisconsin the trees are cut in early November. Is it a Fir, which will last the longest of all evergreens after being cut.

Side note about Christmas Trees, during college I worked several days a week and Saturdays during winter at a Garden Center/nursery and after Christmas where we accepted all the unsold Christmas Trees from area tree lots. We used the trees as wind breaks for young plants in the nursery fields and it was my job to strip off the nylon mesh from the trees, load the trees on a hay wagon, drive out to the fields and carry the trees to the correct areas for placement. I received four truck loads a day or more and it seemed like an never ending job. I work from daybreak to after dark. Some one said that only 60-70% of the trees cut for Christmas were sold. But, it provided me with $2.75/hr spending money.:)

During winter I was the only person working other than two winter tree planting crews (four guys) who worked up until the end of February. It was my job to do an inventory of the different sizes and quantities of plants in the entire 200 acre nursery and then return to my office to do a sales/inventory booklet of my findings. I was out there working until the temperature dropped below 10 degrees. I kept warm by walking for the most part.

That's about all for now...............

Greg

Which wire runs where and does what? Believe it or not I have a wiring diagram of this confusion. It is the wring for mainly the flashing signals, detection and bell ringer circuit.-Greg

This is the control plant for the turnouts in the Saxeville Interchange. Most of the toggle switch control two turnouts. The switch have since been labeled with numbers and the turnouts will get identified for the operators.-Greg

This is Rocky Junction on the CM&N Railroad. The mainline is the center track and the right track leads to the Pine River Yard area and the left track heads towards the future layout expansion.-Greg

Terry ... I am saddened to read your post telling of your recent circumstances. Praying things improve for you and your wife.

...

This afternoon we got our boat in the water and at our dock. Just in time for cold rain tonight. Possibly it will change to snow. It was a bit of an adventure however.

A friend drove the boat to the dock from the launch across the bay while I drive the truck and trailer back home. There was a large unmarked fishing net and it became tangled in the prop . That kept him and our boat in the middle of the bay. Later, the fishermen returned from another bay . They were able to remove their net from the prop. ... It seems like everything gets messed up lately.

Ken- sounds like the issues we have with our phone system. They’re an Office 365 program that is having issues interfacing with Google Chrome. Both systems are aware of the issues & are “trying to get the bugs worked out”.

Should have joined the Boy Scouts ....they would have screwed you for free.
I was a Boy Scout; from Cubs right through Scouts and then Venturers. For the most part, our leader was an old WWII battlefield sergeant who didn't put up with crap. He spent a-lot of time teaching us how to survive in the bush, and escorted us on many multi-day mountain excursions. - I always took the scouting movement as an extremely noble adventure, and well worth the weekly dues.

I'm sorry if you don't feel the same.

computers & anything related to AI or IT are just a PITA for me: what does interfacing have to do with what I want to happen. Dont care , just make it happen !

this whole forum seems to have been decreasing in informative & good vibes recently.
At my house, we/I are pretty much stuck in isolation, other than me driving to work and the hospital. I'm posting about what's going on just to have somebody to tell what's going on. I can't speak for the others.

BTW, I'm back from getting the two teeth extracted, and gently spooning cream of mushroom soup into myself for supper.

When I went to high school , there was young man that was a year ahead of me. Some how he let it out what had happen to him at school. I am not going to go into the details but he realized what a mistake he'd made telling . After that I never saw him again, his brother showed up a few days latter distraught , I never did find out exactly what happened to him ( i heard various stories , none were good) . I was and still am glad that I was not in that organization.

While I am sure that a good many of the 95,000 are probably frivolous , I am sure that quite a few more never saw the light of day.
