Greg: They are taking a bunch of precautions at the orthopedists. Be checked for fever, have to wash hands just before I go into the exam room, etc. They are limiting folks in waiting room, only an escort if I need one and no one else. I was asked a bunch of questions pertaining to contact and travel already, and I don't expect that to change between now and then.

Willie: I agree that social distancing is probably doing the best thing. The wife just called to tell me the rest of the state has been put on stay at home orders.

What I have a harder time with is the run on Guns and Ammo that the local gun and pawn shops are having. Even more so than TP. Are they going to kill the virus with a 9mm?

Good afternoon all. Another warm muggy day in Houston. I hope they are correct, that hot, and high humidity slows the cv-19 down. Been working a little on scenery and family tree project as well.

Good morning!
It's somewhere around -10C this morning, 1hr away from lunch. We are in the midst of yet another mini-blizzard. Our weather is so bad this March, that I'm likely at risk of catching Covid 29-1/2, rather than what's going around currently.
To go with the bad weather, we have a real deer problem in this small town. They are everywhere, eating all of our trees and plants, and creating a road hazard. Mostly, the town deer have tamed up, and are not afraid of us anymore.
I took this photo of a Mule deer group just this morning, through my front window. They are on my neighbors lawn in a snow-storm, eating his conifer branches. I suppose a deer can eat anything.

Willie - Opening day, huh! Baseball is one of the few things that briefly brings us back to normal in a wrecked world, and makes us feel good again; if only for a time. I think hobbies have that effect, as well. - I can see you get right onto the projects you start! You'll have that neat looking boiler shack up in no time!

Boris & Karl - Very nice photo's delivered by both of you. Those loco's come from my favorite era; a time that I would like to go back to, frankly.

Not a whole lot to say right now. Just staying inside mostly; at least until I have to go out and shovel snow some more. Wish I could train those deer to shovel for a handout. I'd even give them apples.

I'll leave you with a photo of the total of my hobby output for March, 2020. Just don't have any other photos to show, right now. I'll have to get down to the tracks soon, because I can hear that whistle blowing. Something is goin on down there!

If you're not following that part of it, many governors and mayors are adding 2nd amendment limitation language into their disaster declarations. I think this rush on guns and ammunition is a reaction to that. This response is probably about as far as we should go, so we don't get political.

Guy

Norfolk Southern will be along shortly.

I couldn't find photos of the house Amtrak hit in Auburn WA, 12/23/2000 or the one the ATSF freight hit in the early 1980s in California or the one the Milwaukee hit in Othello, WA in 1977.

Good afternoon. I have been AWOL again. I have been out working in the shop getting ready to part with some more vehicles. have a few people interested in some of them and want to get them woken up from a long winters sleep.

I have some catching up to do. I have seen some posts on my phone but as usual hate to peck on the phone to reply.

Terry - That's a weird situation where one shop can remain open and another having to close. Sounds like they are just trying to save a few bucks on payroll to me. Don't know why your unemployment should take so long. My daughter filed and was told that they are waiving the waiting period and should see a check pretty soon. My wife, son and his wife are still working as their jobs are considered critical. My daughter was laid off for the time being.

Curt - Hope you can figure out something for the new layout. At least you found the problem before you started laying track. Is your son on law going to get tested??

Joe - Sure hope you can get that tooth taken care of. It has been bothering you for a long time. Like your photos as usual. Sure like that RS-3.

Willie - Like that stove company kit. I almost picked one up. Wish I had. Nice photos as usual.

Sherrel
- My wife has the same problem trying to remember which stores have senior hours for which day. I offered to shop for her but was turned down. Nice job on the pool.

Guy - That garage really came out nice. Makes me want to go through my scrap wood to see what I can come up with.

Mike
- It is looking like you are off to the races buy starting to get some track down. Keep up the work. Waiting for more photos.

Karl
- Nice shot of the WM RS-3's also.

Greg
- I was going to mention about the same thing to George about the plumbing. If all of the parts needed were in hand it really wouldn't take that long.

Texas Hobo - Nice photo.

I did manage to get down into the train room for a while to run some trains. These switchers hadn't been run for a while so they were sent into the yard to pick up some freight cars and drop them off to various customers.

Good Morning Everyone....over cast and rain here in this part of Wisconsin.

Yesterday, I finally fixed that Tortoise problem after numerous replacements of the DPDT mini-toggle switch that controlled the Toriose. I was getting power from the control panel to the Tortoise buy it would only operate in a single direction which would suggect a bad DPDT toggle switch. Finally, I took another brand new, unused toggle switch from another panel and replaced the wiring from the panel (switch) to the Tortoise and it worked. I can't believe that other four mini-toggle switches could be bad!!! I tested each one before wiring then for electrical reversing operation But, now it works and I can get back to the projects I was worked on prior to the Tortoise's failure.

George: Glad you made a temporary repair to the piping system and good luck on that patch holding which it may for a long time, but I would call a professional plumber when you decide to work on the piping system. That rusted iron pipe can be a real bear to work on and without a doubt there will be problems. The corroding of the copper pipe is likely cause by the copper piping attached to Galvanized Steel with the two dissimilar metals causing galvanic corrosion. There should be a dielectric union installed that is a fitting designed to prevent this from occurring in the future. This is installed bewteen the copper and metal piping.

Today I'll check the dwf signal lighting in the Pine River Yard. The signals help the engineer know what direct the turnouts are set for and then they can select what track to use fro car storage.

Patrick: Two of my doctors have cancelled my appointments that are in May and April. One nurse who called said the hospital is "full" and they don't want any healthy individuals coming to the facility. The other didn't want me to go to a lab for blood testing until the virus thing is over. Fun, I was at the hospital has Wednesday and while the parking decks were half full, I still had my appointment, but the waiting area that could hold 40 individuals had just me, my wife and another person.

On Line Stores: Does any one know of an on line model railroad store that's filling orders? I could use some items.

Going to watch 1917 tomorrow.

Down to the layout. An old ALCO patched for the CM&N will be pulling a six car ore unit train of empties.

Greg

Greg- from what I understand, Walthers has closed their showroom, but is filling & shipping orders.

Afternoon All,

Did some chores first thing. We got a new Shark vacuum so I was giving it a shakedown trial. I spent about 3 hours working on the layout plan and I think it's really close. Tomorrow I'll do some gazing at it to try to find problems. MOH is down to 1 box (equivalent of 2 boxes) in the train room.:)

Guy- Anything is better than nothing. Neat picture with the deer...I live hours away from where you would normally see one, although I did see 3 Key Deer behind the station on Disney property several times years ago, by now the coyotes have probably gotten them.

Sherrel- Nice job on the pool pump replacement.

Mike- That looks good. What's the track radius?

Joe- Nice CNJ RS3. I hope your tooth is better. I have a question that maybe you can answer. Did the PRR use E7's in Brunswick Green to haul freight? I can't find that answer. A friend is doing that so I am curious.

Patrick- Good luck with your knee.

Karl- Also a nice RS3.

Hughie- Very nice scene.

Willie- Nice job on the foundation.

Chet- Thanks. Interesting Memes. I don't think he is getting tested since there was no contact with the guy. It's his and daughter's decision to make. I can only suggest. Great layout scenes.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Mike- That looks good. What's the track radius?

Curt....I'm running 31 1/8" radius with 34" easements throughout the entire layout. That's the biggest radius Kato makes. At this point I have built the benchwork to be able to go with 36" when I switch to flex track. I'm using the unitrack at this point to get something running. I will flip it on eBay when I start laying flex.

Taking a short break from MOHs honeydew projects turning mattresses, moving bedroom furniture all around, and trying to wear out the vacuum.
CURT - speaking of a vacuum - I picked up a Bissell Powerforce (new) off Ebay for $49.00 around 4 months ago.
We have two very expensive, really expensive vacuums that we have had almost 29 years.
This Bissell outperforms both of them put together! I thought (what the heck) if it isn't any good - for that price I can just junk it?
BTW - I am still not believing that the seal on that motor housing seated its-self the way it did.
I had no idea how heavy that new motor was. Been a while since I have worked on anything like that.
Guy - Don't fret over your progress - you are way ahead of me!
Chet - Nice photos of your layout...did you see that truck that Guy posted a day or so back. Nice little restoration project for you?
JOE/Karl - Love those RS units ... more, more!
Greg - You better slow down on all the work - You gonna be out of a job if you keep it up?
PAUL - After seeing and reading your post -- I am going to be sure and keep my house away from the tracks - LOL.

Finished my vacuum and resting - MOH just told me to get to HD for the batteries - She is tired of looking at the stepladder in the front room!

Willie-I have been thinking about that nice stove company kit. Since you have a casket factory, you need a funeral home as an outlet for your caskets.

Erma Bombeck said- " One thing they never tell you about child raising is that for the rest of your life, at the drop of a hat, you are expected to know your child's name and how old he or she is."

Curt: E7s (EP20) were initially delivered in Brunswick Green (DGLE), five stripe. But they were exclusive passenger power, back then. Once painted Tuscan Red, they did haul Truck Trains and LCL trains on occasion, and were regular power on Mail trains. The PRR did buy FP7s for use on secondary passenger trains and mail trains. Most were delivered in a green scheme, but one or two sets came in Passenger Red Color. (If I recall correctly you ave a pair of FP7s). Two Alco PA1s were actually re-geared for freight work, and were painted DGLE Single thin freight stripe. They were assigned to 46th st on Philly, and used in transfer trains between Philly and Camden NJ. These two units also found themselves working passenger in the summer on the PRSL, and on the NY&LB out of Amboy, when the Baldwins BP20s were retired.

Thanks for the comments on the tooth ache. I found a couple of practices offering emergency visits, and will call monday, assuming we are not completely quarantined by then. I have a pair of uppers on the left as well as the lower that are suspect. will have to have a professional check them out.
