New Haven FL9's

There doesn't seem to be any forum members that model the New Haven. So most members don't know of the only EMD engines that were both diesel and able to draw third rail electric power. There were 60 passengers engines built and mainly used on the New Haven and NYC Harlem lines that run into Grand Central Station. Overland Models did a run of 300 units that were gone in weeks. Since most of my 12 years were spent on these engines, I would have loved to have bought two, but at $600.00 each I passed. I did find a site Farewell to the FL9's at

http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~mwa04001/FL9farewell/index.htm

If you want to take a look. Looking at the photo FL90010 you can see the third rail pick up shoes.

Awww, darn it, I was looking forward to learning how to build one! Oh well, they are some neat units though, might I add!
