I'd like to buy a circus themed model railroad set up

I am a circus performer and would like to buy a circus model railroad display. I will be adding to it, building it, and enjoying it with my kids, but don't want to start from scratch. Please let me know of any displays that may be available. Thank you! michael@funnymichael.com
 
I can't remember who makes it but there is a Ringling Bros train available. Maybe Bachmann Trains??? Also, take a look at the Medina Railroad Museum, they have a Fair Ground scene in their layout which might help give you ideas or at least what is available.

Welcome to the forum!

It may be hard to find a circus layout for sale, but a train set would be a good start. You would be surprised how quickly you can set up a layout/display and involving the kids with the construction is a learning experience too. A ping pong table is a good short cut to starting a layout or any smaller table to fit your available space.

I quickly searched eBay for a layout/display and a found 2 but they are not train related and considering you are asking in a model train forum I assume you would want trains in your display/layout, but her they are any way

You can keep checking back with eBay, you never know what you can find.

I found this train set on eBay starting bid $180 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Lion...6122?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2a36a6041ait + shipping It only has a few hours left before it ends but there are no bidders and it will most likely be relisted. The book value for that set is $155 in excellent condition and $190 New. That set is claiming to be new. It is from 1991 but those locomotives from that time period are of very good quality and American made built to last. There maybe others as well.

Here is a new HO set http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Bachmann-HO-Ringling-Bros-Ringmaster-p/bac-00714.htm that is from my local hobby shop and they have some of the best prices you will find anywhere on the internet.

How old are your kids? The reason I am asking is the younger ones have trouble with HO or smaller scale trains.

My grandsons are 4 and 5 and they do great with the Lionel O gauge, but they struggle working with my HO trains. They can operate the throttles but have trouble railing and coupling the HO cars. They have no trouble with the Lionel O gauge.

Thanks for the tips. My first choice is to buy one already started, which I can do now. If I have to start from scratch, this will have to wait a while. My first choice is HO scale, but will consider a larger scale.
Please feel free to add to this thread, or contact me if you have any leads that would help me, either for a new start or a contructed set up. Thanks!
 
I'm not good at forums, so disregard if this appears twice. THanks for the comments. If I can find a set up for sale, I can start with this now. If I have to start from scratch, this will have to wait, and it may never get started. I prefer HO, but will consider other sizes. Thanks for any leads or tips everyone!
 
Both of those sets are ready to run, meaning you have everything you need to set it up and run your trains right out of the box! The HO set I found can ever run on carpet.

At the Great Scale Model Train Show at Timonium fairgrounds in Maryland last fall, there was an extremely highly detailed HO scale layout that depicted a 1920's or 30's circus train and parade through city streets that was for sale. It was completely self contained in a trailer that could be hauled behind a car. I don't remember the price, but it clearly wasn't cheap. I took a lot of pictures at the show. I took pictures of several layouts and displays, including about 30 pictures of that circus train display. This weekend (Feb 1 & 2) there is another Great Scale Model Train show in Timonium, Maryland. Maybe it will be on display again.
